As teeth whitening becomes more popular

As teeth whitening becomes more popular - everyone wants a great and gleaming smile, and technology changes so the desire for quicker and faster treatments has grown. Manufacturers and cosmetic dentists are not slow to notice this trend and as the desire for great looking teeth grows so teeth whitening costs grow also.

Certainly those treatments that are faster and better now cost stupendous amounts and some of these procedures are only within the grasp of the very rich. At the same time the costs of tooth whitening products such as gels and pastes have come down over the years - although this does not account for how much people spend in constantly repeating the treatments to keep their teeth white.

Some of the more technologically advanced teeth whitening treatments such as laser treatments can get your teeth looking whiter and brighter than ever in the space of a couple of hours. However, if you want these treatments then you have to visit a cosmetic dentist to obtain them and this is where teeth whitening costs begin to sky rocket. Laser treatment may use advanced technology but the process of whitening your teeth is not that complicated. First of all the dentist will apply a peroxide colored gel onto your coffee stained teeth and then after that a laser light pulse is applied to the gel. The laser pulses and the gel then work together to dissolve the staining on your teeth, this process is so effective that you can expect the results to last anywhere from two to five years. The more you can avoid substances that stain your teeth then the longer the results of this treatment will last.

Many people will save the money to have the above type of procedure on their teeth because they believe it saves them from the far greater costs of loss of self confidence, a lot depends on how much you might value your looks. Laser treatment is one of the higher teeth whitening costs and could cost you upwards of a thousand dollars, and that is for just one visit. Some people whose teeth are really badly stained may find that they need more than one treatment and this can make the procedure extremely expensive.

Sometimes people's teeth are extensively stained or damaged and under these circumstances laser treatment may not be considered the correct procedure for you. Your dentist will advise you on the best way forward but he or she may recommend that you have dental veneers or crowns rather than the laser treatment - and this can be an even more expensive process.
